I don’t know what you have heard about the Key Areas of Success, what I do know is that a common theme runs throughout the Key Areas of Success. It’s how high achievers thrive and some people succeed while others well, just survive.
The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, SmartTalk by Lou Tice (one of my all-time favorite thought leaders) are all excellent books that talk about the Key Areas of Success. All three of these authors agree that it is your thoughts and their power that control your perception.
Dr. Pelè is an author and Mastermind associate of mine. The next few paragraphs are an excerpt from his soon-to-be-published book. Have a read and try his experiment for yourself.
Whatever Story You Tell Yourself Will Come True
Do this experiment: Open your eyes and look around you. Count the number of things you see that have the color red in them. Do this for about a minute and count them all.
Now stop, close your eyes, and try to remember if you saw anything around you that was yellow.
Probably not much. Now open your eyes.
There were probably several things that were yellow, but we didn’t see them because we were looking for red.
What happened here is an example of the essential nature of our human experience. It all has to do with something called our “reticular activation system,” but I won’t bore you with explaining that. The simple takeaway here is that whatever we FOCUS on, is what we grow. Whatever STORY we tell ourselves, will come true.
If we focus on NEGATIVITY, it will grow. If you focus on POSITIVITY, it will grow. If you focus on your FEARS, they will grow so powerful that they will enslave you. But if you focus on your great POTENTIAL, you’ll achieve it.
If you want to be broke, think about all the things you CAN’T do.
If you want to prosper, tell yourself daily positive stories about being able to accomplish anything you put your time and effort into.
Be careful what you think, say, do, give energy to, or ALLOW into your daily focus because we CREATE reality with our thoughts, feelings, and actions.
Whatever STORY You Tell Yourself … Will Come True.
As mentioned, this an excerpt from Dr. Pelè’s upcoming book, I Got Happy. It resonates with what I believe and I thought you’d appreciate an alternate voice on the subject.
